As the Super Bowl draws near, we focus not on the sport or athletes, but those who are affected by sex trafficking. Law enforcement expects a spike in reported cases due to this huge and popular event, which is why we are encouraging large amounts of donations in the coming weeks of the Super Bowl. With new sweatpants being our item of focus for donations during the Second Quarter, we continue on to the Third Quarter donations – new sweatshirts!
Similar to sweatpants, sweatshirts are something that we wear to make us comfortable and relaxed. That feeling is something that a victim of sexual violence would value and never forget, and it would help them find a sense of warmth after being trapped in the cold for so long. Every sweatshirt we receive from your kind donations will help restore dignity to a victim of sex trafficking.
To start off our four weeks of donations, we asked for backpacks we could fill with comforting items like notebooks, flashlights, and hand sanitizers. We have nearly reached our original goal of 250 backpacks by Super Bowl Sunday, thanks to donations of backpacks and funds to purchase large quantities. Last Sunday we hosted a Pack-It-Forward event where volunteers packed 175 backpacks in preparation for the Super Bowl, All of the backpacks donated will go to people who have been sexually exploited and are in need of these essential products to restore one’s confidence and offer security.
If you would like to donate new sweatshirts, or more backpacks and sweatpants, they can be mailed directly to 1821 S. Bascom Avenue, #206, Campbell, CA 95008. You can also drop them off at our San Jose office at 1777 Hamilton Avenue, Suite 2010, San Jose. Call 408-674-5744 for hours.
Next week is our last quarter, and is the lead up to Sports Bra Sunday! We’ll be asking for donations of Sports Bras all week to complete backpacks for sex trafficking victims.
We would also greatly appreciate donations of the following items:
