The Grateful Garment Project
Our Mission
The Grateful Garment Project’s (TGGP) goal is to ensure that every survivor of a sexual crime who comes to a Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) facility or seeks medical attention and/or law enforcement assistance receives new clothing, toiletries, snacks, and other essential items. We have expanded our mission to support all victims of sexual violence, including Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) and survivors of Human Sexual Trafficking (HST).

WHAT WE DO
We Restore dignity to victims of sexual violence
We’re not just changing lives–we’re rewriting what justice and humanity look like, one survivor at a time.

The Grateful Garment Project helps survivors of sexual violence by offering them clothing and resources necessary to restore their dignity and start the healing journey.
Our Story
History
The Grateful Garment Project began as a university class assignment in March 2011 to assist the community, led by Founder and CEO Lisa J. Blanchard. Upon learning about the challenges faced by victims of sexual assault, who sometimes only had a hospital gown to wear after their ordeal, Lisa reached out to the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) facility near her home for ways to provide support. She initiated a clothing collection program that garnered an overwhelmingly generous response from the community. The news spread, leading other SART facilities to request assistance. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Lisa applied for 501c3 status, officially launching The Grateful Garment Project on May 17, 2011.

Since then The Grateful Garment Project has expanded to include many other items besides clothing. We also expanded from helping victims of sexual assault to include all victims of sexual violence in California, including Commercially Sexually Exploited Children and Human Sexual Trafficking victims.
